Elsewhere (2021) on osa Veiled Masculinity -sarjaa, jossa maskuliinisuutta tarkastellaan verhon, ihon ja katseen välisten suhteiden kautta.
Teoksessa hahmo kääntää katseensa pois katsojasta. Suunta ei ole alaspäin eikä suoraan eteen, vaan jonnekin toisaalle. Tilaan, jota kuva ei täysin määritä. Ohut, musta huntu asettuu kasvojen ja ylävartalon päälle, seuraten kehon muotoja ja lihasrakenteita. Kangas piirtää iholle viivoja, jotka muistuttavat anatomisia karttoja: kehosta tulee yhtä aikaa fyysinen ja symbolinen pinta.
Valo on kirkas ja paljastava, mutta huntu muuttaa sen laatua. Maskuliininen keho näyttäytyy herkempänä, kerroksellisempana. Voima ei ole jännittyneenä esityksenä vaan olemassaolon tilana, joka sallii poissaolon. Katseen suunta tekee teoksesta introspektiivisen: se ei pyydä huomiota vaan vetäytyy hieman sivuun.
Nimi Elsewhere viittaa tilaan mielen ja kehon rajalla. Paikkaan, jossa identiteetti ei ole täysin määritelty eikä täysin hallittavissa. Maskuliinisuus ei ole tässä kohtaamisessa suljettu muoto, vaan liike kohti jotakin määrittelemätöntä.

Elsewhere (2021) is part of the Veiled Masculinity series, examining masculinity through the relationship between veil, skin and gaze.
In the work, the figure turns his gaze away from the viewer. The direction is neither downward nor straight ahead, but toward somewhere undefined. A thin black veil covers the face and upper body, following the contours of muscle and bone. The fabric draws lines across the skin that resemble anatomical maps, turning the body into both physical and symbolic surface.
The light is bright and revealing, yet the veil alters its quality. The masculine body appears more fragile, more layered. Strength is not presented as tension but as a state of being that allows absence. The direction of the gaze gives the work an introspective tone — it does not demand attention but withdraws slightly.
The title Elsewhere refers to a space at the threshold of mind and body — a place where identity is neither fully defined nor fully controlled. Masculinity, in this encounter, is not a fixed form but a movement toward something unresolved.
